About the day

Clore Leadership and the Cultural Governance Alliance present an exclusive autumn event: Cultural Governance Forum: A Networking Breakfast with the Charity Commission on Wednesday 6 December 2023 at the British Library Knowledge Centre.

We invite trustees and executive leaders from the cultural sector to join us for networking and breakfast at the British Library as we welcome Orlando Fraser KC, Chair of the Charity Commission, in conversation with Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey OBE, who will explore topical issues for cultural governance including:

  • Philanthropy – optimising current incentives and opportunities
  • Board/Trustee Accountability in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) environment
  • The Politics of Good Governance – effective charity governance in the context of political uncertainty
  • Restitution & Regulation – addressing contemporary cultural imperatives within existing charity frameworks

This marks a key opportunity to engage with arts and cultural governance peers in person and an exclusive chance to put your questions to the Chair of the Charity Commission in a Q&A led by Prue Skene CBE, Lead Governance Associate at Clore Leadership.

Questions for the Charity Commission?

What would you like to ask the Chair of the Charity Commission based on your experience of the regulator? What critical questions about governance has your cultural organisation been grappling with? Is there more you’d like to understand about the Charity Commission’s role and its relationship with charitable bodies?

As this is a rare opportunity to engage directly with the Charity Commission, we know that there will be lots of you wanting to put questions to Orlando Fraser.  For the best chance of having your questions fielded, please submit them to us in advance.
