Manal Ataya is the Museums Advisor for Sharjah Museums Authority. From building confidence to leading in Sharjah’s government, discover her reflections on the skills, network, and inspiration gained through the Fellowship.
Participating in the Clore Leadership programme has significantly impacted my career trajectory. Reflecting on my own journey, the Fellowship I completed many years ago was instrumental in shaping my early professional years. The programme not only provided me with the confidence to navigate the complexities of being the youngest appointed director in the Government of Sharjah at the time but also provided me with essential skills that have proven invaluable throughout my career.
One of the most significant benefits was the opportunity to engage with other Fellows from diverse professional backgrounds and learn directly from experts in the field. This exposure allowed me to broaden my perspective and deepen my understanding of arts and museum management internationally.
Moreover, the Fellowship fostered a supportive network of peers and mentors many who have become dear friends throughout my career. This community has been a source of inspiration and guidance, encouraging me to pursue innovative ideas and continue my personal professional development.
Being an alum of Clore Leadership is a badge of honour that I wear with pride and I am forever grateful for. The experience was truly instrumental in laying a solid foundation for continuous growth and achievement in the dynamic world of museums and cultural diplomacy.
