FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions about our Programmes

Will I get a notification when applications open?

Please sign up to this mailing list if you would like to be alerted when applications are open. Once you have entered your details, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. If you haven’t received one, please check your junk folder. An email will then be sent to you on the day applications open. Please note that we don’t alert prospective applicants individually, we only send out one alert to those on the mailing list.

Which course is right for me?

It is important to read the course descriptions carefully when making a decision about which course you want to apply for. Course descriptions are listed here.

When selecting a course, consider your key learning priorities and needs; your years of experience in the cultural sector; the amount of time you can give to the programme; and your preferred learning style.

I am not a formal manager, can I still apply?

Yes. It is not necessary that you lead a team, we look for change makers. Our courses are for professionals who work in various capacities including freelancers, entrepreneurs, administrators, coordinators, managers and heads of established institutions who lead projects, activities and meetings in a work context. They are for formal and informal leaders alike, with a focus on the traits of leadership that are not restricted to formal managers.

I don’t live and/or work in England, can I still apply?

Yes.  Support and bursaries from a range of funders enable us to offer a limited number of places for participants across the UK (the major funding partner remains Arts Council England).  Participants living and working outside the UK can also apply, paying the full-cost for the course.

Am I eligible for a bursary?

Clore Leadership offers a range of bursaries for its Courses.  We are grateful for the support of a range of funders whose resources underpin both specialist bursaries and those that support our commitment to enhancing equality and diversity in cultural leadership.  The list of bursaries and their criteria can be found here. There are a limited number bursaries for each course and bursary places are highly competitive.  If you have been selected for the course but have been unsuccessful in your application for a bursary, you can still attend and pay the full course fee according to your band.

If I am applying for a bursary, will this affect my chances of being offered a place on the course?

No. All applicants are selected on merit and must meet our selection criteria. Once we have selected successful applicants, any bursary applications will be considered.

When will the outcome of the selection process be known?

It is expected that place offers will be made 4 – 6 weeks after the application deadline. Every candidate will be notified by email whether they have been successful or not.

Can I apply now and defer my place to a later course?

It is not possible to apply now with the intention of deferring your place to a later course. If you are not able to attend the course for which you are successful, your place will be offered to someone on the waiting list.

Will I receive feedback if my application is unsuccessful?

Places on Clore Leadership courses are extremely competitive, and due to the large number of applications we receive, we regret we are not able to provide individual feedback.

How do I make a new account when applying for a course or fellowship?

Head to our apply page and there are instructions for creating a new account or login to an existing account.

I am disabled and have specific access requirements. Should I be applying for the Caring Support Fund?

No. We have separate budgetary provision for meeting your access requirements and making adjustments on all our courses to cover individual needs. If you are a disabled person, don’t forget that you can apply for the Disabled Leaders Bursary.
