Richard Beecham

Freelance, Theatre Director/Associate Facilitator/Coach

I am a freelance theatre director. Originally from Newcastle but living in London, I work across the country and across the repertoire including classics, new writing and international drama. I also curate large cultural events such as the National Commemoration for Holocaust Memorial Day. I am an Associate Artist of HighTide Festival Theatre where I work with new and emerging playwrights; an Artistic Assessor for Arts Council England which involves travelling the country to assess work from the portfolio organisations; and I work as a coach, mentor and workshop leader, with my particular interest being to support emerging theatre practitioners.

I really enjoy working with young people and emerging talent, regularly teaching and directing at the London drama schools, and for six years I was very involved with the National Student Drama Festival. I am a Fellow of the Clore Leadership Programme (2007/9).
