9 Quick Questions with Shelley and Laura

A warm welcome to Laura Weijers and Shelley Pearson, the new Administrator and Fellowships Coordinator at Clore Leadership who joined the team in January 2018.

If you call the Clore Leadership office, you’re likely to speak to one of them first. They were kind enough to answer these 10 questions so you could get to know them a little better.

  1. How would you describe yourself?

LW: So far for the easy questions! In a few words I’d say (hope), fun, probably somewhat sarcastic, caring and easy going.

      SP: Calm, adventurous, creative.

  1. Where are you from? What brought you to Clore Leadership?

LW: I’m from a place deep down in the South of the Netherlands. I’ve been in London for about 2.5 years now. I previously worked for a media company. Longing to find a way back into the cultural sector and then there was Clore Leadership!

SP: Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Have a cultural background and I’m interested in developing myself, so hoping I take in all the Fellow’s experiences and fabulous qualities through osmosis.

  1. Favourite part of your working day?

LW: The moment when I’ve gone through all my emails and for a brief second the ‘to-do’ list seems empty.

SP: Walking along the river into work from Blackfriars Station. I love the light on the river in the morning and the reflections in the evening.

  1. What do you do for Clore Leadership? How would you explain what you do to a 5-year-old?

LW: I’m the administrator. My tasks range from managing Hilary Carty’s diary to assisting the finance department and general office management. For a 5 year old: I juggle multiple different kind of balls and also try to solve puzzles that seem to be changing                 constantly.

SP: Fellowship Coordinator. I’m a juggler and plate spinner and a good listener.

  1. Your biggest challenge at work?

LW: The ‘daily’ three minute planking sessions!

SP: Joining in the team ‘planking’ session, as I’m getting over a pulled rib muscle.

  1. What gives you energy?

LW: Coffee coffee coffee and being surrounded by good fun people!

SP: Fresh air, walking by the sea or on the North Yorkshire Moors.

  1. What makes you laugh?

LW: I’m afraid I’ve got such a dry sense of humour that a simple very bad dad joke already does the trick. Also I really value a good pun!

SP: My 7 year old nephew Max.

  1. A leader you admire?

LW: I’m going to have a bit more of a think about this one!

      SP: Malala Yousafzai

  1. Favourite art form?

LW: This is so hard, but if I have to choose I’ll have to go for cinema.

      SP: Film and printmaking
