Clore Leadership in partnership with Rising Arts, Beatfreeks and Contact Manchester.
Join us for Governance Tomorrow: a 3-day programme of sessions with the aim of helping board members and senior executives embrace the potential of young trustees as part of their governance. The sessions will include keynotes from young trustees, guided discussions, a consensus workshop and tailored mentoring to equip senior members of staff with the knowledge and confidence to enact positive change in their organisations.
The governance and leadership focused events we have run over the past year have clearly shown that, despite the efforts surrounding increasing diversity at board level, there is still a significant lack of representation for young trustees. This programme is designed to tackle that issue head on and provide board members and senior executives with the tools and action plans to effect real change: supporting younger people interested in governance and trusteeship to take up these positions.
Key themes to be explored in the sessions include:
- ‘Ear Training’, exploring how to authentically listen to, understand and learn from young people’s ideas and opinions
- Distributed leadership
- The value that young trustees can bring to an organisation
- Exploring the dynamics between young trustees and senior Board members
Dates and Times:
Monday 19 July 2021, 11:00 - 13:30
Wednesday 21 July 2021, 11:00 - 13:30
Friday 23 July 2021, 11:00 - 13:30
Who is it for?
The programme is for people who are already working with or sitting on Boards. Particularly, for senior executives and board members who want to help their organisations better engage with young people and incorporate young trustees into their governance. The Governance Tomorrow programme is designed so that 2-3 representatives from the senior leadership (board members & staff) of each organisation participate in sessions.
Due to the nature of the session, please be aware that a maximum of 12 organisations will be selected to participate.
We will select organisations to participate based on responses to registration questions in order to ensure that there is fair representation of organisations across the sector.
Facilitators
The sessions will be led by Matt Wilde.
Matt Wilde is a Manchester-based musician, producer and founding Director of Blaze; a youth-led charity that aims to develop the next generation of creative producers. Matt is a Trustee on the board of pioneering music charity Brighter Sound and the international concert venue Bridgewater Hall.
We will be working with partner organisations to deliver sessions including Rising Arts, Beatfreeks and Contact Manchester.
