Dan Baker (he/him) is currently Programme Manager at the Exeter Northcott Theatre, and is co-Founder and Chief Executive of Plymouth Fringe Festival. He is also a trustee for Plymouth Culture.
During a career spanning more than 20 years he has worked with the likes of The Old Vic, Theatre Royal Plymouth, The Bush, Greenwich + Docklands Festivals and Almeida Theatre in roles covering producing, project management, facilitation and outreach.
Dan is an alumni of the ISPA (International Society for the Performing Arts) Fellows and CULTURE RESET programmes, and trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Dan was a Clore Leadership PULSE participant in 2020.
Clore Leadership PULSE helped me greatly in realising I was ready to take the next step in my career, and to embrace the responsibility of being a leader. I was encouraged to apply for Chief Executive roles, underlined by an authentic leadership style crystalised through Clore - the programme helped me overcome impostor syndrome, and to step up.
The Covid pandemic has impacted on my professional development due to the changing landscape of UK theatre, but has encouraged me to become an agent of change; I am using this time to speak to others to conduct research into the impact of Covid, in order to help shape the sector moving forward.
