As Artistic Director of Dance City I lead on artistic direction, work with local, national and international artists and companies, develop new partnerships, nourish existing partnerships, manage many of the staff team, programme work, commission work, fundraise and act as the face of the organisation. Also create the strategy for education and community activity. Previously at DanceDigital, a Dance Development agency based in Chelmsford, Essex, specialised in Dance and Technology activity. I oversaw the re-launch of the organisation, including developing a new business plan and artistic policy, re-branding, relocation, new staffing structures and building new partnerships. The role included a significant amount of fundraising. I delivered an ambitious and risk-taking artistic policy, commissioning work, programming work from across the world, developing artists through our Associates scheme, leading the intellectual debate with a series of symposia and supporting new artists through a bursary scheme.
I am the Chair of the Durham Student Union, an ambitious and forward-thinking organisation with student experience at its heart.
Specialities: Business planning, artistic programming, project management, partnership building, fundraising, staff management, negotiation.
The Clore Course improved my business acumen, my understanding of a wider sectoral approach to problem solving and delivery and gave me a whole new set of skills to use in the workplace to enable great things to happen. It shaped and supported my leadership development significantly.
Clore gave me skills to support the management of change, to support leaders across the organisation and to empower people to be the best that they possibly can be. I utilise these each day at work.
