Sophie Woolley

Sophie Woolley is a writer and performer. She is an attached writer at BBC Writersroom group, and lead artist at Ovalhouse Adult Company. In 2018 her work-in-progress stageplay, Augmented, was part of the FiRST BiTEs season at Ovalhouse and won the New Wolsey Suitcase Prize. The full production will tour in autumn 2019.
Stage plays include When to Run, Fight Face and Bee Detective. Sophie has performed her work across the UK, including Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Soho Theatre, Hammersmith Lyric, Manchester Royal Exchange, Southbank Centre and the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Sophie has also worked internationally, with Unmute and Artscape in South Africa.
Sophie’s BBC radio plays include When to Run, Carbon Cleansing and Absolutely Delish.
As well as performing her own work, Sophie has worked with Told by An Idiot (‘Let me Play the Lion Too’), Eleven Films/Channel 4 (‘Cast Offs’) and on DCI Banks (ITV).
Sophie was a writer on Channel 4 screenwriting course and Soho Theatre attachment programmes. Her journalism has appeared in the Guardian Weekend magazine, Daily Mail, Woman, One in Seven and Sleazenation magazines.
