Tonya Nelson
Tonya Nelson is Director, Arts Technology and Innovation at Arts Council England. She also currently Chair of ICOM UK and sit of the board of trustees of the National Gallery. She was previously Director of Museums and Cultural Programmes at UCL where she oversaw exhibitions, public art and theatre programming across UCL's three public museums and the Bloomsbury Theatre. In 2017 she was seconded to the DCMS to help develop a digital strategy for the cultural sector and was co-author of the Culture is Digital policy report. She has been a British Council Cultural Leadership International (CLI) Fellow and was Director of the British Council's new international training academy for museum professionals. Tonya joined the cultural sector after working as a lawyer and management consultant in the United States. She holds a B.A. degree in Public Policy, M.A degree in History of Art and a J.D. degree in Law.
