The Founding Director of the Clore Leadership Programme, from 2003 to 2008. He was Labour MP for Islington South & Finsbury for 22 years, including being Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from 1997 to 2001. He is currently Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge, and was previously Chairman of the Advertising Standards Authority, and Chairman of the Environment Agency. He is also Chairman of The Art Fund, a Non-Executive Director of PPL, a Trustee of The Sixteen, President of the Wordsworth Trust, and Chair of the Intellectual Property Regulation Board. He was previously Chairman of the Board at the Donmar Warehouse, and chaired the judges for the Man Booker prize in 2004, and for the Art Fund Prize for Museums in 2012.
