Nichola Johnson

Nichola Johnson trained first as an archaeologist and then as an art/architectural historian and has worked in both the museum and HE sectors. Until 2010, she was Director of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia, where she also established and directed both an innovative post-grad Museum Studies programme and the Museum Leadership Programme, which ran from 1994 to 2012. She has chaired the boards of Clore Leadership, the Ruskin Foundation and the University Museums Group and is currently chair of the East Anglian Art Fund. She is also a Trustee of the National Trust and of various other heritage and cultural institutions. Since 'retiring' (!) she has been very much engaged in mentoring, as a way of unlocking creativity in people and in organisations.
