The
Clore Leadership Programme today announced a new programme of
development work with Boards of Trustees in arts
organisations and museums across the UK.
Sitting alongside the existing Clore Fellowships and
Short Courses, this new programme is funded by the Cultural
Leadership Programme, and applications will be invited from
interested organisations and Boards from 9th March.
The
new programme offers an organisation the opportunity for the
whole Board, together with the senior executive team, to spend a
day discussing and considering how they are operating as a
Board, how their relationship with the Executive has developed,
how they are tackling issues such as recruitment, succession
planning, diversity, financial information
and analysis, legal responsibilities, and strategic planning.
In
the first year, twelve such day sessions will be available,
catering for a range of organisations of different sizes and
from different art forms and locations.
It is hoped the first event will take place in May or
June this year.
Lord
Chris
Smith,
Director of the Clore Leadership Programme, commented:
“We’ve been proud to have started to help develop the
leadership skills and confidence of people working across the
whole cultural sector, in recent years. Now we’re delighted to be able to include the
development of leadership skills for Trustees of cultural
organisations in our programme.
Giving an entire Board the chance to spend a day thinking
and learning about their work and how it can be developed for
the future is something that’s really welcome. I hope many Boards will jump at the opportunity.”
Hilary
Carty, Director of the Cultural Leadership Programme, said:
“Governance is repeatedly being raised as a key element
of cultural leadership development and we are responding with a
number of activities to help Boards and their senior leaders
meet the significant demands of their roles. Drawing on the proven expertise of the Clore Leadership
Programme, these Board development days offer a valuable
opportunity for organisations to work and develop together”.
The
deadline for applications is 10am on Monday 16 April 2007.
