Our vision is for a society enriched by arts, culture and creativity. Never has this been more important, and rarely has the leadership of our arts and cultural organisations and programmes been so sorely tested. At Clore Leadership, our role is to cultivate excellence and innovation in the leadership of culture, and our new trustees join our Board of industry leaders to help us ensure that our programmes and activities continue to stimulate and meet the ever-evolving needs of leaders today.

These new appointments underscore recent developments in Clore Leadership, as we implement and promote an enhanced range of programmes and activities. Kate, Sarah and Anisa will strengthen engagement with the performing arts, social enterprise and entrepreneurship, and the wider creative industries; enhance our aptitude for impact analysis; and champion the issues facing independent organisations, freelancers and early career professionals at this challenging time for arts and cultural leaders.

Moira Sinclair, Chair of Clore Leadership and Chief Executive, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, said:

“Strong leadership and good governance has never been more important for the arts and cultural sector than it is today, and I am delighted that Kate, Sarah and Anisa are joining what is already an impressive Board. In an excellent field, their mix of skills and experience really stood out, as did their connections to key cultural communities and stakeholders. I know they will bring wisdom, future thinking and drive to bear, and I look forward to working with them to ensure Clore Leadership stays relevant and resilient in the coming years.”

Kate McGrath, Chief Executive, Fuel, said:

“It is a critical time for leadership in the arts and cultural sector and Clore Leadership has a very significant role to play in supporting the leaders of today and of the future. I feel very honoured to join as a Trustee at this moment, and I’m looking forward to working with the Chair and Trustees, Hilary Carty and the team, to support the next leg of Clore Leadership’s extraordinary journey. My Clore Fellowship in 2008 gave me incredible opportunities, insights, and training, as well as ongoing invaluable peer support from my cohort. I hope many others can benefit from the expertise and generosity Clore Leadership offers in the challenging times ahead.”

Anisa Morridadi, Founder and Chief Executive, Beatfreeks, said:

“I’m enthused to be joining Clore Leadership as a Trustee to contribute to the vision for a creative society enriched by culture and strong communities. It’s vital to understand that freelancers, early career professionals and executives alike have been impacted in a diversity of ways by Covid-19 and the understanding of their experiences, perspectives and stories will be pivotal in the reset and recovery of the UK. Joining the Board of Clore Leadership affords me an invaluable opportunity to bring entrepreneurial knowledge and experience from the social enterprise sector and shape the way our future leaders are seen, heard, and platformed.”

Sarah Weir, former Chief Executive, Design Council, said:

“It is a true honour to be chosen to join the Board. The top calibre talent Clore Leadership programmes help develop has powered the creative sector and cemented the standing in which it is held in the UK and internationally. Now, more than ever before, Clore Leadership is essential. Both to support, challenge and explore, then help us collectively and imaginatively re-think what leadership means and who leaders are, as we learn to live with Covid-19. Different voices need to be heard, different paths will appear. I really look forward to playing my part in helping to shape that future.”

Hilary Carty, Executive Director, Clore Leadership, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Kate, Sarah and Anisa to the Clore Leadership Board. It is fantastic to have access to many of the industry’s most engaged voices, supporting the sector through the ongoing impact of Covid-19 and simultaneously crafting ideas and actions for an uncertain future. Our role in creating a sustainable, relevant and resilient sector, helping individuals and organisations to find new pathways through is critical and brilliantly enhanced by the insights of our Trustees.”
