Impact
Each year we engage in excess of 1,200 leaders through a variety of programmes, from intensive residential activity such as the Fellowship, Leadership Pulse and Emerging Leaders (participants of which join our alumni network, now totalling over 2,500 leaders), to lighter-touch online training and network support. All of our training supports personal and professional leadership development helping to support a dynamic cultural ecosystem.
We also offer a range of targeted programming which responds to contemporary needs and topical issues. This includes programmes supporting Inclusivity and Relevance, providing opportunities and platforms and actively developing greater numbers of leaders from Black, Asian, ethnically diverse, D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent backgrounds.
We seek to make a tangible impact on the number of diverse leaders in the sector, addressing historic underrepresentation in the UK’s cultural workforce. With approximately 700,000 employees in the cultural sector* it remains imperative to proactively increase access for those from ethnically diverse backgrounds (18% for the UK’s population, rising above 30% in major cities) and for those with lived experience of disability (22% for the UK’s population). In recent years our focused efforts have achieved positive outcomes (over 30% ethnic diversity and 18% lived experience of disability) and we will continue to prioritise diverse engagement across our programming, with a focus on progression and resilience, to enhance the conditions for lasting careers in the cultural and creative industries.
Clore Leadership recognises our broader responsibility towards communities, wider society and the environment. We actively engage in consultation and feedback within our own network and in collaboration with others across the sector to ensure that our programming is responsive and that we are able to contribute to thought leadership. We champion a user-led approach to programme development, co-creating content wherever possible and embedding robust evaluation across all of our activity which is then actively shared with partners.

Working with leaders since 2003
The Clore Leadership Programme collaborates with cultural institutions and leaders across the UK and internationally to provide the highest quality training and learning experiences. Since 2003, we have run programmes which respond to contemporary need, reflecting topical issues, inspiring creativity and fostering innovation. We work with cultural leaders to develop their skills, contribute to thought leadership and drive excellence throughout the sector.
Contributing to inclusive and diverse workforces
“We believe that for the cultural sector to thrive it needs great leaders representative of every part of society. We continually work to facilitate equitable routes for entry and progression, and contribute to the development of an inclusive and diverse workforce. All of our programming aims to give voice to those who have been historically underrepresented in the sector and we are proud of the impact that our work has had in diversifying cultural leadership.
Providing network based onward development
We take great pride in the impact of the thousands of leaders we have supported since 2003. Our dynamic network of alumni is spread across UK & international cultural sectors and collectively demonstrate positive influence on cultural practice through the work done and the people they are. Cohorts of leaders engaged through each of our programmes go on to become their own support-network, continuing their peer-learning and nurturing others in the sector through mentoring, coaching & facilitation.
