"Taking part in the Clore Emerging Leaders course has had a significant impact on me, both professionally and personally. It boosted my confidence in my own abilities as a leader and left me reinvigorated and inspired."
What we offer
The Clore Emerging Leaders course is a five-day residential course aimed at people in the early stages of their career. The course is subsidised by Arts Council England through a commissioned grant to develop resilient leadership. Thanks to this grant, places supported by this award cost £500 + VAT.
Who can apply
The Emerging Leaders course was set up in 2011 following an independent report by Adroit Consulting, which highlighted that participants under the age of 30 were under-represented on the courses.
We are looking for people with between two to five years' paid experience in the arts, museums, or libraries sector and some experience of initiating and/or managing projects. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to lead.
Applicants will be selected for the course in such a way that a broad range of backgrounds and specialisms is included.
How you learn
The aim of the course is to provide a supportive environment in which you are given an introduction to leadership development and the opportunity to challenge yourself and your perception of what leadership is.
We understand that people learn in different ways and the course reflects this. It’s practical and you’ll be given the chance to learn and practise new skills through individual and group learning. There are also opportunities to listen to others talk about their experiences of leadership, and what they learned along the way.
What difference will the course make to you?
Previous course participants have said they gained the following from the course:
- Increased confidence in their own leadership ability
- Increased motivation around career
- A better understanding of different leadership styles
- Greater self-awareness
The course also provides opportunities for networking with, and learning from, peers from across a broad range of organisations and sectors.
